Dr Kate Head Medical Director
Kate trained in medicine at Southampton University after which she specialised in anaesthetics to Senior Registrar level. She entered the pharmaceutical industry in the mid 1980s with Hoechst UK, then later the International CR&D group at SmithKline Beecham. Here, she became Vice President of the General Medicine Therapeutic Area at Director level, with a Global remit. In 1992, Kate became a freelance Pharmaceutical physician and has worked since for many pharma companies (from venture capital biotechnology to large, multinational companies) in both R and D and Medical Affairs.She has also worked as a contract Medical Assessor at the MHRA. During this time, she gained a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Law which has been invaluable in the interpretation of the Code of Practice.
